Create an inbound NLP question

Create an inbound NLP question to start this passage or logic when the chatbot user's response matches the intent in your training phrases.

If your chatbot users have follow-up questions to a specific passage that you want to match differently, create an outbound NLP question in that passage. If you want to match specific words or phrases rather than the chatbot user's intent, create a keyword question.

To help your chatbot match your questions accurately, try to define a maximum of one global NLP question and one conversation NLP question in a passage or logic. If your chatbot could start this passage or logic in response to several very different questions, combine all the training phrases into a single question.

To create an inbound NLP question:

  1. Click Create in the left navigation, then click Convesations.
  2. Click the conversation with the passage or logic you want to add a question to.
  3. Click the passage or logic you want to add a question to.
  4. Click Inbound Questions.
  5. Choose to create either a global question that will match from anywhere in the chatbot or a conversation question that will only match within this conversation.
  6. Click + Question in your chosen context.
  7. Click the edit icon next to the New Question title.
  8. Type a descriptive name for the question.
  9. Optionally, select the Language the question's intent phrases will use.
By default, questions are set to your chatbot's default language. If you're creating a question for a different language, select your chosen language.
Language options are only displayed if your chatbot has multiple languages configured. Only languages specified in your NLP settings are available.
  10. Type the intent phrase you want to match in the Training Phrases field.
If you want to use an entity, type @ to open the entity list. Each entity can only be used once within an individual training phrase. You can also click the entity to open it in a new tab for easy editing.
  11. Type Enter or click the + button to add a new phrase.
You can also generate suggested training phrases.
  12. Click Save.

You must publish these changes before they'll appear in your live chatbot.
